Collector

Welcome to the Jefferson County Collector’s homepage.  The mission of our office is to provide respectful customer service to Jefferson County while fulfilling our obligation to follow the statutes of the State of Missouri.  It is my commitment to serve Jefferson County and its people with accountability of checks and balances of public funds within our office.

Collector's Responsibility

The Jefferson County Collector of Revenue is responsible for collecting current and delinquent Personal Property & Real Estate taxes.  These funds are then distributed to the various entities and political subdivisions within the county which have an authorized property tax levy.  In 2022 the Collector's office will be responsible for collecting & distributing over 284 million dollars in tax revenues.  The Collector's office conducts an annual Land Sale per State Statute (Chapter 140) which is held each year on the fourth Monday in August. We also issue the Merchants, Auctioneer, and Peddler's Licenses.

Office Information

Tax bills are usually mailed in late November and are delinquent after December 31st each year. If you have not received your current year tax bill by December 1st, please contact the Collector’s office regarding your current tax status or look online by clicking on Tax Search, where you can see your account.

If you have delinquent taxes, per State Statute (140.100) you must pay the delinquent taxes before paying the current taxes that are due.

Online License Plate Renewal System

Jefferson County taxpayers will now be able to utilize the Missouri Department of Revenue online renewal system for license renewal for your automobiles. This was made possible by a joint effort between the Missouri County Collectors and the Missouri Department of Revenue.
